My work is multifaceted with regard to discipline, medium, format and meaning. It consists of mixed media non-figurative paintings and drawings to more realistic collages and graphic prints.
The images embrace a ratio of emotions on a visually sensitive abstract level. Generally, the aim is not to communicate one specific meaning or mood as such, but to also encourage the viewer to form his/her own thoughts and ideas in response to the works.
Within the work you will find lines and shapes appear with underlying traces of earlier formations. These are partly hidden and partly revealed beneath the surface. Paint residues and thin washes build the surface and the images emerge as if from within. The work tries to illustrate a culmination of fleeting moments, each of which has left its mark echoing feeling and dialogue. This is a response to the continuous layering of foreign experiences and images over those, known and familiar.
Through this creative process I explore thoughts and emotions experienced with or within a given space or landscape. Frequently, a moment which influences our direction and path appears in focus or is often experienced as ‘ghosts’ of colour and movement. The work attempts to capture these moments across space and time as lines of contact which are fragile, heavenly and fleeting. It also tries to depict the present beauty of place, the memory which we carry and the significance of our final separation.
This creative journey yearns to celebrate and distill moments of feeling, transformation and insight.
