In 1994 the Swartland municipality approached me to run a 2-week mosaic and cement project in Kalbaskraal near Malmesbury. The project focused on developing the skills of a group of women and teaching them the art of mosaic and how to cast and decorate their own cement stepping-stones.
A holiday programme, which was held for the local kids, was thoroughly enjoyed. They learned to make their own beautiful mosaic flower pots as well as casting and decorating their own stepping-stones.
Another holiday project that followed was for the children of the prison wardens from the Malmesbury prison. They had lots of fun and made stunning sculptures using paper mache.
